Warrant Officer Tikko
Fell in combat, in Monday, by RPG fire. Memorial ceremony was today, where the respects were paid by different people, like our top brass and including the CO of the HMS Illustrious (visiting us for a few days).
That kind of happening always brings out those who strongly oppose to the whole Afgan mission and who sometimes use not-too kind of a language of express their feelings. Those can go to hell and die. It's always sad to lose someone, and he left a wife&daughter behind, who will need a lot of support, which I doubt the state can manage. But c'est la vie.
Estonians and Brits have been fighting together not only in Afghanistan, but also in the independence war in 1918-20 and in which some 110 troops from British naval and air forces lost their lives. So as a side-remark, the second visit of Lusty will be an honour and a symbol of continuing co-operation. During the 23th June, the Victory Day, celebrating the victory over German Landeswehr (1919), the Brits will also honour the parade with some fighters doing an overflight, as will the Czech AF (currently providing the NATO umbrella). So we're not alone.
I Think it's appropriate to refer to Dire Strait's Brother in Arms.
